How we use your information
This privacy notice sets out how the Independent Inquiry Team uses and protects any information that you give to us during the course of submitting evidence to the Inquiry, the subsequent processing and analysis of your evidence and its use in any report or documentation produced by the Inquiry. All information supplied to the Inquiry will be treated as Highly Confidential in the Information Security Classification Scheme.
Your personal data will normally comprise information given to the Inquiry during the process of the submission of evidence, such as email address, home address, telephone number. Sensitive personal data (such as information about a disability, medical history etc..) will be processed as Special Category data.
Where appropriate the Inquiry may use your personal information to:
- Contact you with any questions we have regarding your evidence or information
- Engage with you and send you information relating the work of the Inquiry
…unless you ask not to do so.
Data Controller
The University of Dundee is the data controller for the information held by the Inquiry. The data is processed in the University’s systems, which include Microsoft Office 365 (University’s productivity software) and Box.com (a file sync and share solution). All information held by the Inquiry will be confidentially purged within a period no longer than 1 year after the publication of the Inquiry’s report.
Lawful Processing
The lawful grounds for processing personal data within the Inquiry Team are normally:
- the data subject has given explicit consent to the processing of those for the specified purpose and within the Terms of Reference of the Independent Inquiry
- processing is necessary for the performance of the work of the Inquiry
Your Rights
The Inquiry respects your rights and preference in relation to your data. If you wish to update, access, erase or limit the use of the information you have provided to the Inquiry, please let us know by emailing Independentinquiry@dundee.ac.uk.
